Career Service is a platform provided by Politecnico di Milano to help students and alumni connect with job opportunities, internships, and employers, both in Italy and internationally. It offers various services such as job postings, career counseling and professional development activities. It's also designed to help students navigate the job market by providing support with CV writing, interview preparation, and other career-related resources.

The research process

The research and analysis process involved a competitive analysis of platforms similar to the Career Service. This included evaluating existing solutions, identifying key design patterns, and assessing usability principles to enhance engagement. Additionally, a User Persona analysis was conducted, accompanied by corresponding Journey Maps to better understand user needs and behaviors. The study also involved analyzing the most critical tasks within the platform to identify what was working well and what needed improvement. These insights guided the redesign process, ensuring a more effective and user-centered experience.

The website is meant to serve as a bridge between companies/start ups and students or newly graduates to connect with the job market.

The Redesign Goal

Enhance information structure by streamlining navigation, prioritizing content hierarchy, and personalizing user experiences. We propose a dynamic dashboard that highlights personalized job recommendations, events, and updates, supported by intuitive navigation and advanced search filters. Clear categorization and visual cues will improve usability, while a responsive, user-friendly layout ensures accessibility and inclusivity. This approach aims to make the platform engaging, efficient, and tailored to students' and alumni's diverse career needs.

The Prototyping process

Based on the findings from the research and analysis phase, wireframes were developed to address the identified issues and improve the overall user experience. These wireframes served as the foundation for structuring the redesigned platform, ensuring a more intuitive and efficient navigation. Once the wireframes were refined and validated, a high-fidelity prototype was created, incorporating visual design elements and interactive features to simulate the final user experience.
